It almost feels like he pauses like this forever, the shock of the moment mixing with the strangeness of the sensation, but then Kirma is closer, helping him up.
His knees do hurt, he realizes as he's helped up, and trying to wipe his face clear of the mess Kirma's just made is... less than fully successful.
