( the glistering of bright yellows is blinding in ways kakavasha is not used to in the least, and as he's led down hallways seemingly endless, his eyes never truly look forward; instead, there are walls, and things hanging on the walls that kakavasha doesn't know the name of, and furniture kakavasha doesn't know the name of, and objects kakavasha doesn't know the name of, sitting atop the furniture - but if there's one thing he knows, is that it reflects light so beautifully he would have loved to show it to his sister. maybe, once he finds her again in such a huge place, they can look at all the pretty things this weird dream has to offer. maybe he slept, and suddenly the men in black from beyond the stars took him somewhere safe, somewhere away from sigonia? even though no one in here is wearing the same clothes they do... oh well.
this isn't sigonia, and there's no sand on his boots, and everything is so new and exciting, why should he ever worry? the nice people said they would take him somewhere with other children, and maybe his sister would be there, too, but -
when they walk past another long hallway, he spots another child, around his height, who seems seemingly lost... shouldn't they also be taken to where the other children are? but the tall, kind people are getting farther and farther from them - but they seem lost, and that must be scary, right? kakavasha looks back and forth, between the other child and the tall people walking away and decides, eventually, to turn around the corner, and run towards the other child.
he's all smiles, at least, excited to see someone else potentially his age? all the other kids in their clan had been slightly older than him, so isn't this exciting? and maybe he should have worried whether the kid even speaks sigonian, too, but if he thinks about it, the tall people who were not avgin could also understand him, so - well. he might as well try, and if he waves and smiles and sees as harmless as he could, maybe he won't scare off his new friend! )
Hi! Are you okay? You seem lost... The nice adults said they were taking me somewhere safe for children, so you can come with us if you want!
( Esikko is lost. He's been lost for a long time now, unable to find the painting that leads to the castle, unable to find his family, unable to get anyone to look at him or take him seriously. Everyone's been kicking him out of all the interesting places, shooing him away, and so he's decided to inspect some of the plants that are put up as decoration. He's in the middle of this now, one hand tenderly touching the petals of a flower that he just quietly reassured ( Don't worry, you're still growing. Your bloom will be even more beautiful next year. ) when he notices there are eyes on him.
At first, he feels nervous. Strangers are dangerous, he's been told, but how could that be true, when he'd met that puppy, when he had been so nice to him? And here, as the child his size waves and smiles, Esikko feels he can let his guard down a little, shoulders relaxing. )
What... adults?
( Voice curious and awfully quiet, he leans to one side and then the other, as if trying to see past Kakavasha to find these so called adults. But whoever he was following— are they still there? )
Um, I'm not lost, though, I'm... I just like plants.
that self at least has some measure of power, here in the casino. the kind that allows him to flag down the staff, as they walk on, entirely oblivious to the fact that their charge has darted off, and offer, you know, to take over? the resort is awfully chaotic, given the game, so would really they mind a short break from it? most of all, as a royal—
he doesn’t actually have to finish that line of thought, actually, before the staff members practically disappear into thin air, so fast do they scamper away. he makes a note to try and lead with that, next time; unused as he is to having something like clout, the rare occasions he attempts to wield it always end up on the awkward side of things.
it’s easy enough from there, to follow the scent of sand and turquoise, to kakavasha’s detour. he’s merely acting on assumptions, at this point, but there are few in the casino with eyes quite as piercing as the brief glimpse he’d had. to then see who kakavasha has reunited with, as he approaches the both of them—
if only some of aventurine’s luck could have rubbed off on him. )
Are both of you… here alone? ( this, too, is awkward. he doesn’t dislike children— quite the opposite, in fact— but he’s never quite sure how to approach them. ) The other staff asked me to take over, ( kinda ) but they didn’t say where you were trying to go.
So that's a plant too? It's so pretty! All the ones I've seen were so dry... ( < boy who has lived his entire life in a barren desert.
there's a child-like wonder in his eyes at something new yet recognizable all the same, as though finding an old friend all grown up now. they gleam with fascination, and the topic of adults helping them completely drift from his mind for a moment -
until, of course, another one shows up. though this is one kakavasha doesn't recognize, there's something there, too. a lingering sense of trust, that despite being in an entirely new place away from everyone he knows, this person is definitely someone he could trust with his eyes closed.
which means him and his new friend would be totally safe with him! )
Are you also part of the staff, mister? ( because he seems like an important person!!! ) They said they would bring me somewhere they were keeping the children, but I ended up separated from them because I was worried about him...
( a look at his new friend, who's allegedly not lost. )
We were just looking at the plants, though. Aren't they pretty?
( Though Esikko had been entirely ready to go on a long, excited ramble about plants and how he could show Kakavasha all of them, how he has even been practicing to make some of them, it all drops the second he sees that familiar tail. Those ears. But more than both of those, the eyes.
He's so tall, though, and as Esikko steps closer, reaching out, his hand hesitates, eyes big and wide like he's not sure what to make of it. But his smile is unmistakable. )
It is you, Puppy! You've gotten so big! How did you do that? I wasn't able to find you, after that day, and I thought... I was... I mean, where did you run off to?
spades event :)
